Mass Innovation Night September 9, 2009

If you have yet to attended a Mass Inno event and you are interested in startups and innovation in the Boston area, put this September #min6 event on your calendar.

As mentioned in Scott Kirner's article The Cultural RevolutionMass Innovation Nights has earned a spot as an institution contributing to the emergence of the new (open) innovation culture in Boston.

The September 9 Mass Innovation Night Innovator Companies:

Register to attend and make sure to Vote for the Companies you would like to see a demonstration in the ampitheater.

See you there.

PS. my advice is not to try to park near the museum. Easiest is to find the lot across the river and walk over the footbridge.

Directions:

By Car: From I-95/Route 128, take exit 26 (Route 20 east). Follow Route 20 east for approximately 1.6 miles, and before Waltham Common turn right onto Moody Street. Turn left at the second traffic light onto Pine Street. Turn left into the City of Waltham Municipal Parking Lot. Park your car and cross the footbridge over the Charles River. Take a right on the brick walkway and proceed to the museum entrance at the end of the walkway.

By Public Transportation: The CRMII is a short walk from the Waltham station stop on the MBTA Commuter Rail from North Station. For information visit www.mbta.com or call 800-392-6100

Eric Ries Lean Startup talk moved to November

The bad news is that we were not able to pull off the event for August. We tried to be agressive and get all the details and sponsorhips nailed down in a short amount of time. Although some great sponsors did sign up, the summer slowdown and vacation schedules ultimately proved too much of an impediment to finding enough sponsors that would be around in August or having the ability to get buy in and budget sign off.

The good news is that we spoke with Eric and decided that a November event will give us enough time to sign up both sponsors and attendees.

We apologize for getting people's hopes up and then not being able to follow through for August.

The Evenbrite Sign-up page is still good and will reserve your place for the November event. If you haven't signed up yet but are interested, please do so, as the more attendees interested the easier it will be to land sponsors.

We will announce the confirmation of the date and venue here. Thanks for your patience.

August 12th Virtual MIN Innovators

If you haven't attended the Mass Innovation Nights meetup out in Waltham, you are missing out. You know where Waltham is right? You know, 128, where the VC's are. ;-)

The event takes place at the Charles River Museum of Industry & Innovation. Here's some Directions. Don't try to park at the Museum, it is much easier to find the lot across the river and walk over the footbridge.

Bobbie Carlton has put together a vibrant and interesting event.

This months Virtual Mass Innovation Night is a little different. As an indication of the organizations innovative bent, they are innovating themselves by conducting their first “virtual” innovation night on Wednesday, August 12.  This is a great way to carry on the event, yet accomodating the needs of vacationing entrepreneurs, innovators and technologists.

The event will kick-off at 6:30 p.m. on Twitter using the hashtag #MIN5.  (If you are new to Twitter, the MIN site has some good tips and tools for following hashtags.)  From there, the event will evolve into a phone-based “speed dating” style format with the help of some neat technology from past MIN participant BlitzTime.

So sign up and meet some of our local innovators and check out the presenting companies. See you Tweet you there.

Eric Ries (the lean Startup) speaking @MIT in August

Please help us make this a reality.

Eric Ries is interested and ready to come to Boston on August 21st to speak at the MIT campus. If you are not familiar with Eric,  he is the well known author of the blog Lessons Learned. He was the co-founder and served as Chief Technology Officer of IMVU, his third startup. He is the co-author of several books including The Black Artvof Java Game Programming (Waite Group Press, 1996). In 2007, BusinessWeek named Ries one of the Best Young Entrepreneurs of Tech. He serves on the advisory board of a number of technology startups including pbWiki, Smule, 750i and KaChing.

We are in the process of lining up sponsors so that the event will be at most only $20 for attendees.

Things are coming down to the wire and need to be settled by this Friday the 7th to give everyone enough lead time to make it happen. We already have a super venue reserved at MIT and are in discussions with several sponsors, but we need to sign up more sponsors to make it happen.

Eric Ries The Lean Start-up Talk

is an Eventbrite  sign-up list to reserve your tickets and gauge interest from the community.

If you or your company is interested in being a sponsor and helping the start up community while getting great brand association at the same time please contact    summit@genotrope.com for the details.
